The best Summer Pop-Ups and Gigs Happening This Summer

It’s no lie that Tauranga comes alive in the summer! With our golden beaches, sun-soaked waters and stretching land is the perfect spot for some of the country’s best gigs, performers and unique pop-ups! And 2019 will be no different, we will be seeing in the new year with some local favorites returning, one of the biggest festivals having their biggest line-ups and some jaw-dropping inflatable pop-ups! Here are some highlights of what’s to come:

Water World

Looking for a whole new inventive way to enjoy the water this summer? Then we have the pop-up for you! Located at the bottom, of central Tauranga at the strand, this pop-up inflatable water park is every kid’s dream!

Opening from 4 Dec 2018 to 31 Jan 2019 the fluorescent yellow and green course will measure 20m by 35m and be made up of 50 individual modules, including a slide tower, rope swing, trampoline, ball runs, and giant blob. It will cater to 95 people.

Participants must be confident swimmers and be able to swim unassisted to the entry point in the water park. Lifejackets will be provided, Entry is $17 for all ages, $60 for a family of four. Booking is essential so get in quick!

Bay Dreams

One of the biggest summer in festivals is located under the mighty Mount Maunganui, Bay Dreams has established itself as New Zealand’s biggest festival, selling out year after year. Located on one of the best beaches and holiday hot spots in the world, it’s gearing up to be the highlight of the Kiwi summer with international headliners Cardi B, Tash Sultana, Joey Bada$$, Peking Duk, $uicideboy$ and local, but world-renowned legends, Shapeshifter and Katchafire, its sure to be an unforgettable festival – that is if you can get your hands on tickets!

Fat Freddy’s Drop

Speaking of world-renowned local legends, Freddy’s annual summer roady around New Zealand in Jan 2019 is stopping in Tauranga and will sure to be a gig not to be missed!  Supporting their latest single ‘Trickle Down’ the boys won’t be along, bringing with them a solid line up of local favorites including Ladi6, Salmonella Dub featuring Tiki Taane, The Black Seeds and Troy Kingi – with more to be announced!
